Holiday makers and staff at the popular Australian ski resort have been struck by a mystery gastric illness.
Visitors have had their ski holidays interrupted after the outbreak hit Smiggin Holes village in Kosciuszko National Park last Thursday.
According to a report by News.com.au Andrew Harrigan from the NSW National Parks and Wildlife Service said 120 people became ill and the source of the outbreak remains a mystery. Since the initial outbreak most people have since recovered.
The source of the outbreak is yet to be determined but the water supply is being tested. Authorities have ruled out a link to a sewage spill that happened nearby last week where between 0.5 and 0.8 mega litres of waste was spilt.
“Jindabyne is 900 metres above sea level and Smiggins is 1600 metres and they have separate water supplies,” Authorities said.
Despite the outbreak, the village is still open for business.
