Marmot installing new high speed quad for 2009-10 season

The Canadian resort is installing what is being called the longest high speed quad chair in the Alberta region.

The new chairlift, dubbed “Canadian Rockies Express”, is currently under construction and will be ready for start of the 2009-10 ski season. The new chairlift is 2.3 km long and will take riders to the top at almost 2,000 vertical feet in just over 7 minutes.

The Leitner Poma system will be the longest high-speed quad detachable chairlift in the Alberta Canadian Rockies, with a measured slope length of approximately 2300m and a vertical rise of some 596 meters.

The lift will replace the Tranquilizer Chair and Kiefer T-Bar and the bottom terminal will be at the base of the lower mountain adjacent to the existing Eagle Express quad chair terminal. According to the resport the lift will carry 2400 passengers per hour.
