Snow season draws to a close in the Southern Hemisphere

Australia, New Zealand, and South American ski resorts are in the final stages of closing up for the season. Here’s a list of the resorts that are still open for 2009.

The slushy spring snow is melting fast in all parts of the Southern Hemisphere for what has been a fair snow season. If you’re looking to still squeeze a few turns in we’ve compiled a list of resorts with closing dates we’re currently aware of:

Australia

Perisher: Sunday October 4
Mount Buller: Sunday October 4
Falls Creek: Sunday October 4
Thredbo: TBA – last year they closed on October 6
Charlotte Pass: Ooops you’re too late, they’ve already closed for 2009
Mount BawBaw: Season closed
Mount Hotham: Season closed

New Zealand

Coronet Peak: October 4
The Remarkables: October 11
Mt Hutt: October 18
Treble Cone: October 4
Mount Ruapehu: TBA. Resort usually closes mid October but currently has a base of 147cm at Whakapapa and 227cm at Turoa.
Cardrona: October 4
Mount Dobson: TBA. Until the snow runs out.
SnowPark: October 3
Porters: TBA. Their Website has pictures from this week which suggests there is still plenty of snow though.

Chile

Portillo: October 3
Valle Nevado – If our Spanish is correct October 18.

Argentina

Las Lenas: October 3

If we’re missing any feel free to add them in below and we’ll update it accordingly.
