Sugar Bowl receives 3 feet of snow and opens

A powerful winter storm dropped three feet of snow on Sugar Bowl Resort overnight prompting the resort’s management to open the mountain for the 2009-10 season today.

The White Pine, Jerome Hill, Christmas Tree and Mt. Lincoln lifts will all be in operation on Tuesday, with Nob Hill and Disney chairs scheduled to open Wednesday. With another storm forecasted to move in later this week, mountain crews will be preparing additional lifts and terrain for potential openings as the week progresses. Lift tickets will be USD$66 for adults age 23-59, $56 for young adults age 13 -22 and seniors age 60-69, $20 for children age 6-12, $5 for seniors 70 and over, and kids 5 and under ski for free. Skiers and riders can purchase a Daily CORE pass for $19 and save $10 on lift tickets all season long.

General Admission is in effect through December 25th, giving ages 13-69 and season passholders of all ages free lessons and rentals. Sugar Bowl Resort, atop Tahoe’s Donner Summit, celebrates 70 years of skiing and riding in 2009/10.
