New Zealand’s south island resort has been hit by another round of fresh powder, this time over a foot of new white stuff fell in the past 24 hours.
According to The Remarkables, today was one of the best riding days of the year with 35cm of new snow in 24 hours followed by bluebird skies during the day.
Ross Lawrence, Ski Area Manager, said there were huge smiles all round.
“It’s just premium Remarks up here today – people are riding fresh powder and relaxing in the sunshine on our deck,” he said in a release by the resort.
“There is such a buzz up here at The Remarkables and with the Winter Games and spring skiing coming to the ski area in the next few weeks, this is the snow we needed to make sure conditions stay in great shape.”
Other resorts in the area also saw new snow. Coronet Peak received 16cm snow in the past 24 hours and Treble Cone received 15cm of fresh.
Resorts and club fields in the Canterbury area, a few hours north of Queenstown and Wanaka, aren’t having as much luck. Over the past day temperatures have increased and rain has fallen on a number of resorts.
