New Zealand ski resort, The Remarkables, is gearing up for their eleventh slopestyle competition featuring local riders and live music.
The Tararua Real Iced Coffee (TRIC) Slopestyle Series starts this Sunday (July 26) at the resort’s Dirty Dog Terrain Park with subsequent events in the series taking place on August 15, September 5 and September 19.
Ross Lawrence, Ski Area Manager, said the event created a great atmosphere on the mountain for competitors and spectators alike.
“The Slopestyle Series is an excellent event as the series format enables skiers and riders to recognise their own development throughout the season,” he said in a release by the resort.
“It gives all levels of skier and rider the chance to test themselves in the big park and individual cash prizes will be awarded at each event for first, second and third placed competitors within each category.”
Live music and an MC will also be on hand at the sessions to get riders and spectators in the groove.
The entry fee of NZD$25 will be pooled for cash prizes each session, with an overall prize handed out after the final session on September 19. There are separate classes for Open Men and Women, and Junior Men and Women in both ski and snowboard, and spot prizes will also be handed out throughout the series.
Registration begins each day from 8.30am to 10am at Guest Services, with competitions starting at 10.30am. Entry fee $25 with $20 bib deposit. Helmets are mandatory for all competitors.
