It looks like winter is shaping up nicely for Australian skiers and snowboarders this season with roughly half a foot of fresh snow covering most resorts overnight.
Almost all of the major resorts in NSW and Victoria were reporting overnight snowfall of at least 13cm making for a great base and continued snow making operations. Temperatures are staying cool with most resorts reporting temperatures below 0 degrees celsius (that’s below 32 on the F scale).

If you’re a cool and hip person with an iPhone then you may want to check out the new free app released by snowreports.co.nz.
The application includes weather, road conditions, lifts open, snow depth, new snow, wind and temperature. To get the app you’ll need to visit Apple’s iTunes store. You can get it either via iTunes on your computer or directly from the App store on your iPhone or ipod Touch.
Now you don’t even need to get out of bed to check the Kiwi weather conditions.
The free SnowReports can be found here.
And if you don’t have an iPhone, then try this for other popular phones.

Mt Ruapehu on the North Island of New Zealand has seen record snow levels with all Turoa runs open this weekend.
All 34 snow guns at Turoa have been running on the lead up to the start of the season. With a mix of natural snowfall, there is a metre-deep snow baseon the hill.
At Whakapapa, 54 snowguns, plus natural snowfall, have added a half-metre base. It will open the next week.
About 2000 skiers are expected by the resort on the first day of skiing.
To keep up to date on Mt Ruapehu visit the video snow report posted each day: http://www.mtruapehu.com/winter/video-report/
